elektrotechnik 2025: Experience the future of light

15. Januar 2025

Another first as Hall 7 joins Hall 4 as the second hall focusing on lighting equipment

Between 12 and 14 February 2025, Messe Dortmund is once again set to become the epicentre of the electrical engineering sector. One of the focal points at the 44th elektrotechnik show will be lighting equipment, as an area of speciality within the buildings technology segment. Demand for lighting-related products is high, and for the first time two halls are being dedicated to them, with a large number of exhibitors presenting their latest solutions and offerings. Experts will also be on hand as part of the accompanying supporting programme to impart practical knowledge on current norms, standards and new technologies – for example at the Dortmund Lighting Day on Day 2 of the show and in the 'Trends & Technologies' forum.

Dortmund, 18 December 2024 – Lighting is one of the key drivers of innovation in the electrical industry, not least due to increased sustainability and efficiency requirements. At the same time, technological progress is also creating a multitude of new possibilities, with lighting no longer being merely functional, but aiding personal well-being and productivity, and helping cut energy costs and CO2 emissions by means of connectivity among modern buildings and cities. This is because lighting accounts for around 85% of electricity consumed by buildings equipment in industrial bays, retail spaces, public buildings and other premises.

This creates an attractive market – which in turn brings forth large numbers of new products. As a result, the range of lighting products in the buildings technology sector is growing, and Messe Dortmund wants to reflect this at elektrotechnik between 12 and 14 February 2025, pressing Hall 7 into service to join Hall 4 as – for the first time – a second hall focusing on lighting equipment. Numerous exhibitors will be presenting a wide range of innovations – from smart lighting control systems to solutions combining energy efficiency, automation and modern aesthetics. The varied content of the supporting programme will complement the exhibitors' presentations and provide practical knowledge on norms, standards and technological advances. The content is aimed at specialists in architectural and engineering consultancies, the electrical trade, facility management and the housing industry. The content is of use to everyone – from architects and planners who use lighting as design features, to the electrical trade, and end users such as the housing sector as well as people in manufacturing industry and facility managers responsible for operation and maintenance.

Lighting technology – an integral part of the supporting programme

The Dortmund Lighting Day on Day 2 of the show is a much-appreciated highlight and will be held for the 11th time in 2025. The event is once again being organised by the Ruhr Lighting Equipment Society (LTGR) in partnership with FEH.NRW. This respected and popular event will offer interested parties a compact overview of current developments and challenges in the lighting industry between 10:00 and 13:00 hrs on 13 February. Experienced and knowledgeable speakers from leading businesses will present the latest findings and experiences on topics of practical relevance. “LTGR, which celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2025, recognises clearly the ever-growing importance of the lighting market – for domestic industry and for users. Lighting and digitalisation are progressing hand in hand and making a significant contribution to greater energy efficiency, higher productivity, cost reductions and a greater sense of well-being – whether at work, at home or in public spaces. To make this knowledge accessible to all relevant players, we're organising the Dortmund Lighting Day for the eleventh time this year, once again in partnership with FEH.NRW. We are proud of what we've achieved together and look forward to continuing to offer participants great benefits in the form of up-to-date knowledge and practice-minded insights,” commented LTGR Chairman Friedrich Wilhelm Bremecker.

This series of talks will take an in-depth look at various aspects of lighting technology, covering topics such as standards, the phasing-out of incandescent bulbs, lighting control automation and the DALI-2 standard. By way of example, Kai Bienkowski (TRILUX) will present changes to DIN EN 12464-2 for lighting outdoor workspaces, focussing on new illuminance levels and relevant application tables, while Friedrich Wilhelm Bremecker (DIAL GmbH and LTGR) and Jochen Kowitz (Graphisoft DDS CAD) will show how the BIM process can make electrical planning more efficient, including data transfer between DDS CAD and DIALux.

Light and lighting equipment will also play a major role in Friday's Trends & Technologies forum – a series being held as part of the Buildings Technology Forum on all three days of the show between 10:00 and 12:30 hrs in Hall 3 (3.E30). Tobias Lucas, Sales Manager, Project Development at ESYLUX, will introduce the audience to 'Energy-efficient lighting control with DALI-2', while Kai Bienkowski, Deputy Academy Manager, Germany and speaker at the TRILUX Academy, will offer information on 'Refurbishment of lighting systems'.

Big-name exhibitors of innovative lighting solutions

The growing interest in lighting within the buildings technology segment is also reflected in the sheer number and variety of exhibitors, with well-known companies such as TRILUX, Brumberg Leuchten, Ledvance, BEGA Gantenbrink-Leuchten, RZB and SG Leuchten, Signify, Glamox, RIDI Leuchten and Zumtobel Lighting in attendance. “elektrotechnik 2025 is an important event for us to share our latest lighting solutions and innovations directly with customers and partners in person,” said Michael Blum, Managing Director of TRILUX Vertrieb GmbH. “We're setting new standards, especially in terms of sustainability and smart lighting technologies. We look forward to providing fascinating insights into our new YONOS, RAIL, E-LINE PRO and OSIDO developments for office, industrial and outdoor applications at elektrotechnik in Dortmund, and to aiding dialogue with experts in the industry.”

All key information, updates and developments concerning the show can be found 24/7 on social media channels at the show's website, on Instagram, FacebookLinkedIn and directly via newsletter.
