elektrotechnik provides an attractive platform for more than 10,000 craft enterprises from the electrical engineering, information technology and electrical engineering sectors in NRW. These represent 18 percent of the electrical trade companies in Germany and generate over 25 percent of the industry's nationwide sales.
The trade fair's direct catchment area is home to major industrial companies of world standing as well as dozens of smaller "hidden champions". These turned over around 334 billion euros in 2015, which corresponds to 18.6 percent of German industrial sales.
Last but not least, economic
ties to the BENELUX states are traditionally strong in the region, which are among NRW's largest direct investors. Use these unique location advantages for your business and become an exhibitor at elektrotechnik.
Two trends are significantly shaping the world of building technology: digitalisation and automation. Intelligent buildings are in ever-greater demand. Whether privately used smart homes or commercial properties – ease and efficiency are the order of the day. Technology is developing rapidly. Heating, ventilation, air conditioning and lighting are all being re-thought. Networking is increasing everywhere. And the investment climate is promising.
Smart buildings – a growth market
elektrotechnik 2025 will be presenting solutions. The attention of the trade fair's professional audience will especially be drawn to concepts offering greater energy efficiency. After all, the green energy transition is offering huge potential, with buildings accounting for 35% of global energy consumption. Of this, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) make up 55%. Valuable resources can be saved here. This is also of major relevance in times of rising energy prices. The show's major point of emphasis will therefore be on electrical heating systems, and on ventilation and air-conditioning technology. These include smart meters, energy storage and switching devices.
Platform for innovations
Another major issue: BIM software. Detailed models are becoming increasingly important, helping provide a joined-up approach to planning, construction and facilities management. All these facets can be found in Dortmund. As an exhibitor, you will reach a wealth of new customers, with a trade audience also including specialist tradespeople and electrical wholesalers. Architects, planners and housing associations will be there looking for fresh inspiration. The event brings innovators and investors together.
The green energy transition is one of the greatest challenges of our time. However, it is also spawning a great many innovations, because the move to renewable energies is a seriously complex one. The goal, however, is clear: reliable, sustainable power supplies. Getting there will involve integrated concepts where networking and digitalisation play a pivotal role. So it's no wonder that energy technology is set to be one of the most sought-after topics at elektrotechnik 2025.
Focus on renewable energies
Integrated energy solutions are the future. Energy consumption is growing, and at the same time generation is becoming more decentralised and more volatile. Storage options need to be created, and consumption optimised. To achieve this, various components must be linked using smart technology. Of particular relevance are solar power, energy storage, switching technology and charging infrastructure. You'll find all these focal points at elektrotechnik 2025.
Platform for innovative energy concepts
The show attracts large numbers of decision-makers, both in municipalities and in the energy industry. Representatives from the trades, industry and municipal companies convene here. Many of them are all ready to invest. Their interests lie in smart applications and innovative technologies, with networked energy systems, charging management and storage among the hot topics.
The smart factory revolution (a.k.a. the 4th industrial revolution or ‘Industry 4.0’) is opening up opportunities that are indeed revolutionary, with global trends such as digitalisation and the move to renewables especially shaping the sector. At elektrotechnik 2025, smart industry will be grabbing the attention of more and more trade visitors looking for ways to boost efficiency.
Automation and artificial intelligence (AI) promise to deliver answers. In 2025, the focus of the show will thus be on applications that optimise processes and help to make the best possible use of resources.
Using Smart Manufacturing to deliver Industry 4.0
Innovative approaches have rarely been more in demand in the industry. Predictive maintenance and energy management are also among the big issues. The foundation for this is data. The importance of software for data processing and visualisation is growing. Interdisciplinary networking is on the up-and-up, and modern measurement technology and production control systems (MES) are becoming ever more precise. The market is correspondingly fast-moving.
Technology meets digitalisation
This can also be seen in elektrotechnik 2025, where industry meets craftsmanship. The exhibitors are from the fields of sensor technology, control technology and control cabinet construction, among others. Among the visitors are many decision-makers who are ready to buy. These include production managers and people in planning and purchasing, service technology and maintenance – looking for innovative answers to use in the smart factories of tomorrow.
In addition to the extensive lecture programme, the many exhibitors from the three core areas and professional visitors who want to exchange ideas on innovations and developments, the visitor statistics to date speak for themselves:
40% of the guests do not visit any other trade fair with a comparable theme
68% of visitors are decision-makers or involved in decision-making
87% of trade visitors plan to visit the next fair
Visitors from a total of 13 countries worldwide and from all over Germany
More than 10% of the trade visitors have a concrete interest in doing business at the fair
The majority of visitors come from the electrical trade, industry and wholesale, from energy suppliers and network operators as well as from planning and engineering offices

Unfortunately, it happens time and again that exhibitors receive misleading entry offers in order to be included in so-called trade fair and exhibitor directories. Well-known companies and online directories include art-living.info, Expo Guide, International Fairs Directory, Handwerk-Markt.com, Handcraft-market.com and Construct Data Publisher. Messe Dortmund GmbH expressly states that it has no connection whatsoever with "Expo Guide", "art-living.info", "FAIR GUIDE", "International Fairs Directory", "Handwerk-Markt.com" and "Handcraft-market.com".
Messe Dortmund expressly distances itself from the business practices of these companies. In most cases, these are unauthorised publishers who finance themselves through paid entries in various directories. However, they often give the impression that the offer is free of charge. Only in the small print of the terms and conditions is the amount and duration of the payment obligation revealed - which often turns into a nasty surprise.
Entries in the official media of Messe Dortmund can be made via the Online Service Center (OSC). The access data for the OSC will be sent to you together with the stand confirmation by the responsible trade fair team on Messe Dortmund GmbH letterhead or by e-mail with the appropriate signature.
You can obtain more detailed information on the Internet at the AUMA website, Ausstellungs- und Messe-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft e.V., or from Ms Silvia Bauermeister Telephone: 030/24000-103, e-mail: s.bauermeister[at]auma[dot]de.
