COOKIE-POLICY
Stand: 28.04.2021
We, Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe GmbH and our subsidiaries, hereinafter collectively referred to as "Westfalenhallen", use cookies and other technologies within our online offerings (e.g. on websites, in browser-based applications or in apps) to collect information that we need to provide functions within our online offerings and to improve our online offerings. Some of the cookies or other technologies used require your express consent. We ask you to consent to their use so that you can use all the functions provided by our online offerings without restriction. We are giving you this notice in order to comply with our legal obligation and to inform you about which cookies are used when using our online offerings and how we protect your privacy.
In this Cookie Policy, we refer to all technologies, including cookies, web beacons, pixels, as well as script trackers and other programmatic client-side technologies that can be used to collect user information, explain their purpose, the scope of their use, and provide you with options that you can use to manage and control the behavior of these technologies. Cookies in the broadest sense also include content or service offerings from third parties, such as embedding videos, maps or using certain fonts or providing administrative or other functions that are integrated into our online offerings. These third parties can always identify the respective user, as they require their IP address to provide them with their offerings. For reasons of consistency, all of these methods are referred to collectively as "cookies" below, unless an explicit distinction is made between individual methods.
This cookie policy applies to our online offerings under the domain "westfalenhallen.de" and associated subdomains, as well as to other online offerings of the Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe GmbH, insofar as they refer to this cookie policy. This cookie policy can be accessed, saved and printed out at any time within our online offerings. By using our online offerings, you agree that we can use cookies in accordance with this cookie policy. You can find further information about the use of your personal data in our privacy policy.
1. What are cookies?
1.1. Cookies and other technologies are used to enable certain functions within online services, e.g. to recognize a user, to store a user's preferences, to clearly assign temporary process- or transaction-related data to a user, to store additional security information when a user logs into their user account, or to collect information about the use of an online service and to improve its use. These technologies are also used by almost all online services to recognize whether the respective online service has already been accessed with the same device and the same browser in order to adapt the content displayed accordingly and, in some cases, to vary it.
1.2. Cookies and other technologies may be used by Westfalenhallen, but also by other third parties. This applies to content such as videos, online-based applications or analytical tools that help us improve our online offerings, as well as content that is activated depending on the user, such as clicks on “Share” buttons that can be used to share content from our online offerings on social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter. This Cookie Policy applies equally to third-party cookies. Whether a cookie comes from a first-party or a third-party provider depends on the domain that places the cookie. First-party cookies are cookies that are placed by the online offerings that the user visits. Third-party cookies are cookies that are placed by a different domain than the domain of the online offerings that the user visits. Third-party providers place their cookies in the first-party’s online offerings if they provide technologies that the first-party uses within the online offerings or makes available to its users. The Westfalenhallen have concluded data processing agreements or comparable agreements in accordance with Art. 28 Para. 3 GDPR with these third-party providers.
1.3. Cookies can only be read by the online service from which the cookie originates. Cookies do not normally collect any personal data that is stored on your device. Cookies are simply the key that can be used to establish a connection to personal data, if it has been collected at all. Cookies can be classic text-based cookies, web beacons, pixels or scripts.
• Persistent cookies are stored on the device used to access our online services for a period of time specified in the cookie. These cookies are created when you first visit our online services, unless browser settings prevent this, and are reactivated on each subsequent visit, provided that this visit is made using a device that already has a cookie on it.
• Session cookies allow the operators of online services to record and correlate the actions of a user during a browser session. A browser session begins when the browser is opened and ends when the browser is closed. Session cookies are deleted as soon as the browser is closed.
• Web beacons and pixels are files that are integrated into an online offering and that are requested by the browser of the accessing user. They enable log file recording and log file analysis that can be used for statistical evaluations. Information such as the IP address, the browser used or the operating system of the accessing system can be transmitted.
• Script trackers and other client-side programmatic technologies are small JavaScript-based programs, or programmatic content based on other technologies, which can provide functions that enable a browser to be recognized. You do not need to store any data on the accessing device. These technologies are only used if they are supported and activated by the browser of the accessing user.
1.4. Since many providers use more than one of the above-mentioned technologies, these “cookies” are summarized below according to their purpose and the associated source domain.
2. Which cookies do we use?
2.1 Cookies are usually divided into five categories depending on their function, the technology used and their purpose: necessary cookies, analytical cookies, functional cookies, targeting cookies and flash cookies. Please see the following list for the different types of cookies that we can use within our online offerings.
2.2. Necessary cookies: Necessary cookies enable navigation within our online offerings and the provision of essential functions that would not work without the use of cookies, or that we could not offer in their current form without restrictions on use. This also includes the provision of particularly secure areas that can receive personal user data or enable payment activities. To protect our users' data, these areas are only made available after successful user authentication. Necessary cookies - as one of several methods used simultaneously - also ensure that the user requesting sensitive information has previously successfully authenticated themselves in order to prevent misuse of the information stored by us elsewhere. In addition, settings such as language, location, and display-optimizing information such as screen resolution or buffer size can be stored. Necessary cookies are not used for advertising purposes and are also not used to collect behavior-based information about the users of our online offerings. In order to use our online offerings, you must accept necessary cookies. If you do not accept necessary cookies, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to fully use our online services and that security can be ensured during your visit.
2.3. Functional cookies: We use functional cookies to save user decisions that influence the behavior of our online offerings. With the help of functional cookies, we can offer personalized functions, such as content tailored to individual user needs. For example, we can reactivate the search filters you last used or check whether we have already made you aware of offers. Additional information may be stored on our systems and linked to functional cookies. These functions help us to adapt our online offerings to your individual needs and improve your user experience. To make optimal use of our online offerings, it is therefore necessary that you accept this type of cookie. If you do not accept functional cookies, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to fully use our online offerings. Functional cookies can also be managed by third parties. Information on the protection of personal data for these cookies can be found on the websites of these third parties, which are named below.
2.4. Analytical cookies: Analytical cookies are used to collect information about the use of online services. This type of cookie helps us to further improve our services, provides us with information about the behavior of our users and helps us to identify and eliminate difficulties or errors in the use of our online services. It also enables us to evaluate the effectiveness of our advertising measures and improve the quality of the advertising displayed to our users. These cookies are not linked to information that can be used to identify individual users. Analytical cookies can also be managed by third parties. Information on the protection of personal data for these cookies can be found on the websites of the third parties named below.
2.5. Targeting cookies: We or service providers commissioned by us may use targeting cookies to show you more relevant product information based on your interests. They also help us improve the efficiency of our advertising campaigns. Targeting cookies allow us, for example, to limit the number of advertisements you see or to recognize when you have responded to an advertisement from us. These cookies can be used to recognize individual users and to record which information within our online offerings was particularly relevant to you. We may pass this information on to advertisers commissioned by us and they may link it to information from other sources of personal data. This also includes data collected about you when you use other online offerings. These third parties also allow you to control your settings and your personal preferences regarding the collection of personal data by third parties. This means that you will no longer receive advertising that has been tailored to your needs based on the information collected about you. Please note that you must adjust your settings accordingly on each device and for each browser you use to access our services. Even if such cookies are not used, you may still see advertising from us. This advertising is shown to users in certain target group-specific environments on the Internet and is comparable to the broadcast of television advertising: If you watch a travel magazine, for example, you will be shown travel-related commercials more frequently during the advertising breaks. If targeting cookies are managed by third parties, you will find information on the protection of personal data for these cookies on the websites of these third parties, which are named below.
2.6. Flash cookies: Sometimes so-called Flash cookies are used when embedding the Adobe Flash plug-in. These can save user settings and information about shared local resources on the accessing device for the respective content played. Flash cookies may not be managed in the browser but via other interfaces, but this depends on the device used. You can find further information on how Flash cookies can be managed, deactivated or deleted on the Adobe website. Please note that after deactivating Flash cookies you may no longer be able to use certain functions of our online offerings. You can block Flash cookies in the settings for Adobe Flash Player and sometimes directly in your browser, depending on whether the browser software you use to access our website provides this function. You can find further information here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/security.html

4. Cookies (or technologies) from third parties
4.1. The following sections provide an overview of all third-party cookies used within our online offerings, their origin and purpose. The integration of third-party technologies always requires that they receive the user's IP address, as the functions cannot be provided without the user's IP address. The IP address is required to provide these functions. In addition, these third-party providers may also receive further technical information, such as the browser used, the operating system and technical device information, the date and duration of the visit. We endeavour to only use content whose respective providers only use the IP address to deliver the content. These third-party providers may also store text cookies on the user's device if the device allows this. These third-party providers may also link user information to information from other sources.
4.2. Further information about the use of personal data collected and processed by these third-party providers within our online offerings can be found in the respective data protection notices of the respective third-party providers, which are linked below. In some cases, objection options have already been mentioned with which you can object to the use of cookies by these third parties. In all other cases, you will find further objection options in the data protection notices of these third parties. Please note that you must generally object to the use of cookies depending on the device or system. You must carry out this so-called opt-out for all systems and devices that you use, for example in a different browser or on your mobile device.
5. Google Re/Marketing Services
5.1. We use Google Re/Marketing Services to analyse and optimise our online offerings. Google Marketing Services allow us to display advertisements in a more targeted manner so that they potentially correspond to the interests of users. If a user visits other websites on which advertisements are controlled using Google Re/Marketing Services, the user can be shown advertisements tailored to them. For these purposes, when our websites on which Google Re/Marketing Services are active are accessed, a code from Google is executed, invisible graphics are integrated into the website, or comparable technologies are used. These are used to determine which websites the user has visited, which content he is interested in and which offers he has clicked on. In addition, metadata such as technical information about the browser and operating system as well as the user's IP address, referring websites, time of visit and other information about the use of the respective online offering are recorded. Google can also link this information about the user with information from other sources. The user data is processed by Google within pseudonymized user profiles, which are not assigned by Google to a specific person, but to a device or cookie owner. Real names or email addresses are not recorded or stored unless a user has expressly allowed Google to process this data. The information collected about users using Google Re/Marketing Services is transmitted to Google and stored in the USA. Google is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement and guarantees to comply with the provisions of European data protection law (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt000000001L5AAI&status=Actives). If you would like to object to interest-based advertising through Google Marketing Services, you can use the settings and opt-out options provided by Google: https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated.

6. Functional services from Google
6.1. We use functional services from Google in order to be able to offer the respective functions - such as maps or special programming frameworks - within our online offerings. These functions are very complex, which is why we are dependent on a third-party provider for the economic and technological provision of these functions. For these purposes, when you visit our websites on which Google's functional services are active, programmatic technologies ("scripts") from Google are executed. These serve to determine the appropriate technical parameters of the browser environment of the accessing user and to be able to play the respective content and functions adapted to the user's browser environment. According to the definition mentioned above, these scripts are also cookies ("script trackers"). Among other things, metadata such as technical information about the browser and operating system as well as the user's IP address, the online offering in which the function is integrated, visit time and other information about the use of the respective online offering are determined and passed on to Google. The user data collected as part of the provision of functional services is processed by Google within pseudonymized user profiles, which are not assigned by Google to a specific person, but rather to a device or cookie owner. Google guarantees that the information will not be used for other purposes. Real names or email addresses are not recorded or stored unless a user has expressly allowed Google to process this data.
Cookie-Name Google APIs
Managed by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland
Purpose Some functions of our websites depend heavily on the APIs provided by Google. These include fonts (Google Fonts) and program libraries. Personal data may be processed to the extent necessary to provide the functionality within our websites. Google guarantees that the information will not be used for other purposes.

Cookie-Name Google Universal Analytics
Managed by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland
Purpose We use Google Universal Analytics on our online offerings. Google Universal Analytics cookies are used to collect visitor sessions and behavioral data for analysis reports. This enables us to obtain information about the use of our offerings on different devices (“cross device”) and to use the results obtained to improve the user-friendliness of our offerings. For this purpose, pseudonymized user profiles are used which do not contain any personal data such as names or email addresses, and these are not transmitted to Google. Google uses this information on our behalf to evaluate the use of our online offerings, to compile reports on the activities within our online offerings, and to provide us with other services related to the use of our online offerings. Pseudonymous user profiles of users can be created from the processed data. We use Google Universal Analytics with activated IP anonymization. This means that the user’s IP address is shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP address transmitted by the user's browser will not be merged with other data held by Google.

Cookie-Name YouTube
Managed by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland
Purpose We have integrated YouTube components into our online offerings. YouTube allows the free upload of video clips and their free viewing, rating and commenting. By accessing one of the individual pages of our online offerings on which YouTube content has been integrated, a connection is established to YouTube in order to download the necessary elements to display the corresponding video. YouTube or the operating company Google receives information about which subpage of our online offerings has been accessed by the respective user. In addition, further information such as the IP address, the browser used, the operating system and technical device information, the date and duration of the visit are forwarded. If the user is logged into YouTube with the same device at the same time as visiting our online offerings, YouTube recognizes the user when they access an individual page that contains a YouTube video. This happens regardless of whether the person concerned clicks on a YouTube video or not. This information can be collected by YouTube or Google and assigned to the profile of the respective user if the elements have not been integrated in “privacy mode”. We always use “Privacy Mode” whenever possible.

7. Use of the Facebook pixel for analysis purposes
Westfalenhallen Unternehmensgruppe GmbH uses so-called Facebook pixels in its online offerings. These are the functional components of the comprehensive web analysis service of Facebook Inc. (represented in Europe by Facebook Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland, hereinafter: “Facebook”). With the help of Facebook pixels, Facebook is able, among other things, to assign visitors to our online offerings to a target group or several target groups for the display of advertisements. These target groups are determined from visitors who have shown an interest in our online offerings or who have certain characteristics (e.g. interest in certain topics or products). With the help of the Facebook pixel, we can also measure the effectiveness of Facebook advertisements and use these findings for statistical and market research purposes.
How the Facebook Pixel Works
The Facebook pixels are integrated into our online offerings on the respective end device by loading executable program code based on JavaScript or by loading a single image file if it is not possible to load executable program code, for example if JavaScript has been deactivated in the respective browser of the accessing end device. These different types of Facebook pixels enable an analysis of your use of our online offerings. As soon as one of our online offerings is accessed, the Facebook pixels establish a direct connection to the Facebook servers. The information about your usage behavior obtained through the cookies is usually transferred to a Facebook server in the USA and stored there. The programmatic content of the Facebook pixels is transmitted directly to the end device used to access our online offerings and is largely determined by Facebook. The information obtained using the Facebook pixels is also largely determined by Facebook. The amount of data that Facebook collects using the Facebook pixels can change at any time and is beyond our knowledge unless Facebook provides accurate information about this. We therefore inform the users of our online services according to our current level of knowledge.
Analytics on the effectiveness of advertisements
The Facebook pixel provides extensive analysis functions. The scope of the personal and user-specific data collected using the Facebook pixel can be adapted to different content requirements. For each online offering, a detailed analysis of how individual users behave can be carried out. This applies to any online offering in which Facebook pixels have been integrated. Facebook uses this information, among other things, to optimize the control of advertisements in its own advertising network and to only display the corresponding advertisements to relevant groups of recipients. For example, user behavior after a click on an advertisement in a Facebook online offering or from the Facebook advertising network can be evaluated. Facebook can use the Facebook pixel, for example, to determine whether a contract has been concluded or whether a newsletter has been subscribed to. This information gives Facebook and us more precise information about the efficiency of advertising on Facebook. Individual advertisements and user behavior after a click can be linked to specific purchasing behavior or other target indicators - such as the use of other services offered. Comprehensive usage profiles can be created from this data.
Combining data from different sources and using data for other purposes
Facebook also brings together information from different sources. One of these sources is the information collected using the Facebook pixel about users' surfing behavior within online offerings in which the Facebook pixel is integrated. Other sources are evaluations of user behavior and interaction within Facebook, such as "likes", product interests, interests of people referred to as "friends" there, or information from conversations with them. If you are logged in to the respective device with your Facebook account or have been logged in in the past, the information collected can be linked to your Facebook user account so that your user behavior can be seamlessly recorded within other online offerings even after you leave Facebook. Even if Facebook is not used, Facebook can still link the behavior-related information. We would like to point out that the use of such a tracking process enables users to be identified regardless of the device, as data from different devices can also be merged with the user profile as soon as a user has logged into the same service on both devices at least once, or as soon as a sufficient probability value has been determined based on similar user behavior and matching geodata. The purpose and scope of the data collected, as well as the further processing and other use of the data, your existing rights in this regard and the setting options offered to protect your privacy can be found in Facebook's data protection information: Opens external link in new windowhttps://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.
data transfer to Facebook
Facebook is based in the USA and therefore in a so-called “third country” according to Art. 44 GDPR. Facebook is certified under the “EU-US Privacy Shield” data protection agreement, which means that compliance with a European level of data protection is guaranteed. The legal basis for the transmission and processing of your data is the existence of consent in accordance with Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a GDPR. The following data is transmitted to Facebook by integrating the Facebook pixel within our online offerings:
All data contained in the HTTP headers: An HTTP header is a standard web protocol that is sent to the respective server on the Internet with each browser request. HTTP headers can contain, among other things, IP addresses, information about the web browser, pages or documents accessed, referrers, and accessing systems. You can find more information about data in HTTP headers here: Opens external link in new windowhttps://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_HTTP-Headerfelder
Pixel-specific data, such as the Facebook pixel ID and the content of Facebook pixel cookies.
Values for data events: Up to seventeen standard events can be defined for which data is collected. These are described here: Opens external link in new windowhttps://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-pixel/reference. Among other things, the visit to subpages within the online offering can be recorded, the value of a purchase made, how many and which products were purchased, or the duration of paid subscriptions. This data can also be used by Facebook to predict your purchasing and payment behavior and to make assumptions about your socioeconomic status.
Further information on data collection by Facebook Pixel can be found at Opens external link in new windowhttps://de-de.facebook.com/about/privacy/ and at Opens external link in new windowhttps://business.facebook.com/pixels/tos/ and in the Terms of Use for Facebook Business Tools at Opens external link in new windowhttps://www.facebook.com/legal/terms/businesstools.
Deactivating Facebook data collection
If you do not want Facebook to collect data about you within our online offerings, you must log out of Facebook before using our online offerings and delete the cookies in your browser. You must repeat this process on each device you use to access our online offerings. You can revoke your consent to us at any time by clicking on this link: Opens external link in new windowhttps://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads

Cookie-Name Yumpu
Managed by i-magazine AG (“Yumpu”), Gewerbestrasse 3, 9444 Diepoldsau, Switzerland
Purpose In order to display flip catalogs, we integrate the Yumpu tool in some places within our online offerings. This is a digital platform for publishing magazines, brochures or catalogs. To carry out the service, your web browser retrieves the content directly from Yumpu. The IP address, information about your web browser or the accessing device, the operating system, the date and time of the call, and possibly other referrer data and technical information are transmitted to Yumpu. These are deleted after one month. Yumpu uses the data itself exclusively for the purposes of displaying the flip catalog and for analysis purposes. Yumpu does not combine this data with other data sources. The data is processed by Yumpu in Ireland. Switzerland has been recognized by the European Commission as a country with an adequate level of data protection in accordance with Art. 45 GDPR.
Yumpu uses Google Analytics for analysis purposes. Usage data such as browser type/version, operating system or technical environment used, referrer URL, IP address, date and time of the request are transmitted to a Google server in the USA. The data collected as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other Google data. Yumpu also uses the Google Analytics extension "anonymizeIP" so that all data is collected anonymously. Only in exceptional cases is the IP address transmitted to Google and shortened by Google itself.

9.1. We use cookies for a variety of reasons listed above. Unfortunately, in most cases there is no standard procedure for disabling cookies without completely disabling the functions that our online offerings make use of. Please note that not all functions of our online offerings may be available if you block, delete or disable cookies.
9.2. If consent is required for the use of certain cookies, we will only use these cookies if you have previously given your consent. When you visit one of our online offerings, we will add a so-called "cookie banner" with which you can confirm your consent to the use of cookies within the respective online offering by clicking a button. By clicking the button, you give your consent to the use of all cookies mentioned in this cookie policy. Your consent will also be stored on your device in the form of a cookie ("opt-in cookie") in order to determine whether you have already given your consent when you visit our online offerings again. The opt-in cookie has a limited period of validity of 12 months.
9.3. You can manage, disable and delete cookies in your browser, but also permanently prevent the acceptance of cookies. To do this, you must activate the browser function that prevents the storage of cookies and/or browse in privacy mode, depending on which browser you use. To manage cookies, most browsers allow you to accept or reject all cookies, or only accept certain types of cookies. For more information on managing, disabling and deleting cookies, consult your browser's help function.
9.4. General information about cookies and how to handle them, as well as how to permanently deactivate them if you do not want cookies at all, can be found on the BVDW website at: www.meine-cookies.org.
